Email > POP3 Settings
There are two main ways you can access your PTC CONNECT email account – POP3 and IMAP.
POP3 stands for post office protocol and acts similar to a Post Office Box. When someone sends you e-mail, we store it in your mailbox on our server. When you “check” your email, you remove those messages from the server and store them on your computer.
When you check your mail with IMAP, it shows up in your email program, but you are actually viewing a copy of the message on our server. The messages stay on the server. One of the benefits of using IMAP is that the sent items and drafts folders of your email program will be stored on our server. You can also access your email from any computer that has an IMAP client configured.
Whether using POP3 or IMAP, the communication between your computer and our email server is unencrypted. With the widespread use of insecure private and public wireless connections, it is strongly recommended that you enable Secure SSL. With Secured SSL enable, the communications between your computer and PTC CONNECT's e-mail servers is encrypted.
